The history of School of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine can be traced back to 1952， which makes it one of the secondary schools with the longest history. At present, it offers five majors: animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, animal medicine, aquaculture technology, pet maintenance and training, and pet clinical diagnosis and treatment technology. There are nearly 2000 students at school,
School of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has72 full-time teachers, including 10 professors, 13 associate professors, 28 Ph.Ds. At present, there are 1 provincial excellent teaching team, 2 national agricultural vocational educational famous teachers, 2 provincial and ministerial famous teachers, 4 high-level talents of "six talent peaks" in Jiangsu Province, 3 selected into Jiangsu 333 project, 1 selected into young and middle-aged academic leaders of "Qinglan Project" in Colleges and Universities in Jiangsu Province, and 5selected as the"excellent young backbone teachers".
In recent years,School of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicinehave undertaken more than 50national or provincial scientific research projects, accquired more than 30 patents, and won more than 10 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards,as well as 20 provincial and ministerial Education and teaching achievement awards. It presided over the formulation of 10 provincial-level local standards, obtained 4 new veterinary drug certificates, published more than 300 academic papers, including more than 10 SCI papers, and compiled more than 50 monographs.
